There Will Be Burritos

I was more than overwhelmed yesterday morning when I received a txt message from a friend that read: "new chipotle coming to santa ana".

No, Chipotle isn't setting up shop in the recently closed Pollo de Oro in downtown Santa Ana, but rather on Seventeenth Street in the lot adjacent to OSH. You know, the one that rarely locks the cases to the spray paint.

With L&L Hawaiian Barbecue relocating to a neighboring pad at this location from its previous spot held within the Costa Mesa Marukai market, this sleepy side of Seventeenth Street has potential that could mirror the success of the Centre on Seventeenth, the strip mall located directly across the street.

And yes, I'm giddy like a school girl with the news of a nearby Chipotle on the way.

Ben,

Who did you have to sleep with (or kill) to make this happen?

Cyrus, you only need to put Ben on your delivery list and I think you will have some good side income. lol.

Spencer that sounds like a good plan. If I made enough extra cash I'd be able to get a place at SSL, oh and I think I met you awhile back @SSL when you first bought your place.

Taqueria de Anda is terrible!

I rather go to Gammys cafe, thats the closets Taco place that, I approve that's near by your community.
Since, im a native of this city. I know where the best tacos are at.

Opps! I forgot El Pollo Noteno has the best chicken Tacos, thats close by. Ben knows where it's at. It's in front of the very old church on Ist and Grand.

Next to it there's a Mexican bakery that serves fresh bread (pan dulce) and the best cheese and chicken tamales. If your an early bird. Go and treat yourself to some delicious Mexican food. Their open in the morning from 5am to 2:30pm

Here's some pictures of Gammy's and some other local restaurants in SA:

Gammy's is a delicious local treat and coincidentally the next restaurant that will be on this blog.

Taqueria De Anda has it's moments, but being open 24/hrs, I always wonder when they have time to give the kitchen a good cleaning.

Most of the Mexican restaurants on that Food Frenzy page are pretty solid, Z Tejas and Taleo aren't worth the price in my opinion.

One more thing, as much as I profess my love for Chipotle, please know that I do not consider it to be an authentic Mexican restaurant–Just a filling fast food joint that never gets me sick and spurs positive developments in struggling communities.

The Food Frenzy writers are clueless--Mil Jugos and El Gaucho Meat Market listed are Mexican restaurants even though they're Venezuelan and Argentine, respectively.

Taquería de Anda was once good, back when it was the original Fullerton location and the Fourth Street one. Rapid expansion has seen the quality of food plummet the past couple of years.

Speaking of restaurants: been to Bangkok Taste yet, Ben? Take your CONSTANT!!!
